RACE INFO

The Westfields Business Owners Association is proud to host our annual Westfields Triathlon powered by Revolution3 Triathlon.  The Community Involvement Committee of the WBOA is dedicated to providing activities, communications, community service and friendships within Westfields International Corporate Center.

This Westfields Triathlon marks the kickoff to the triathlon season in the DC Metro area.  Taking place at Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly, VA this sprint triathlon is a great way to dust off the cobwebs and get ready for a new season of swimming, biking, and running.  This event is also great for first timers who want to explore the sport of triathlon without all the pressure.

The swim takes place in the Cub Run RECenter pool.  Athletes will start 1 at a time in a time trial snake swim format. Athletes will swim 250 yards or 10 lengths of the pool.

The bike course is mostly closed to vehicular traffic and mostly flat on very good road surfaces.  A 2 loop course makes it spectator friendly and easy to navigate on this 12 mile total course.

The 5km or 3.1 mile run course takes place mostly on the cub run trail system which is on a paved surface.

SWIM COURSE

Westfields Pool Swim Info from REV3 Triathlon on Vimeo.

Triathletes will assemble on the pool deck of Cub Run RECenter prior to the 7am start time.  There will be a brief warmup opportunity prior to the start.  This year’s swim will be SELF SEED, which means athletes will line up in order from fastest swimmer to slowest swimmer. We will have signs posted for your finish time to help the process so you will be able to line up behind your expected finish time.  Every few seconds a new athlete will enter the water and complete the snake swim, touching each wall with their hand and swimming under each lane line to the new lane until they have completed the swim.  A cone on the pool deck will designate the exit point.

Swim Course: Adult (250 yards – 10 lengths)

DON SWEENEY

BIKE COURSE  (Has been modified this year 2022)

Bike Course: Sprint (12 miles)

RUN COURSE

Athletes will exit the transition area heading onto the Cub Run trail system for a flat out and back 5km run.  Athletes will finish back at Cub Run RECenter and celebrate down the finish chute.  Kids and families are encouraged to celebrate their athlete’s finish by running down the finish chute together.
